In 2004, the third edition of the iconic Nike ‘Total 90’ line of football boots were released, sporting the same lateral lacing system but this time without the tongue for a larger surface area that improved ball control. The overall design of the boot makes it one of the most aesthetically pleasing and allowed for more unique colour options and a chance to utilise the iconic T90 logo on the instep. They also feature a reinforced heel, evolved structure bars for the studs and a cushioned midsole for comfort. The boot became a worn by some of the best players in the world at the time, including Roberto Carlos, Figo, Francesco Totti, Ronaldinho, a young Wayne Rooney, Fernando Torres and a young Lionel Messi who wore a variety of Nike boots before signing to Adidas in 2006.
